Pierre Palmade chose not to appeal his conviction. At the end of November, the actor received a sentence of five years in prison including two years closed for aggravated involuntary injuries after the serious accident he caused while driving under drugs in February 2023 in Seine-et-Marne. As a reminder, a young woman involved in the collision lost her baby when she was six and a half months pregnant at the time of the tragedy.
This Tuesday, December 3, Pierre Palmade's lawyer confirmed that his client will not appeal his conviction. The comedian will be told “ within one month (…) the penitentiary establishment in which he will be incarceratedas well as the date and time at which he must appear there”. The actual incarceration will take place “within a maximum period of 4 months” following the summons.
Pierre Palmade sentenced: the comedian does not appeal
According to additional information from Gilles Verdez, in Touche pas à mon poste, there are three reasons why Pierre Palmade did not not wishing to appeal. First of all, the latter would not want to put the victims through a trial again. He would also believe that his sentence is fair. Finally, the columnist recalls that an appeal would not have suspended the sentence imposed since it was accompanied by provisional execution.
If Pierre Palmade wishes to be cooperative with the justice system, his lawyers would still plan to carry out
a little negotiation. As clarified by Gilles Verdez in TPMP this December 3, Pierre Palmade will appear alone in front of the judge and the team which defends him wishes to propose some conditions.
Pierre Palmade sentenced: this prison where he wants to go
“I'll take an example: if he goes to Gradignan prison – this is the prison he wants to go to – he can say: 'you give me this prison and I'm going to prison before Christmas'. If he doesn't go to Gradignan prison, he can say 'let me spend Christmas with my family, I'll go later'. So there is a discussion that is being created,” explains the columnist.
Once incarcerated, Pierre Palmade will be able to “formulate a request for sentence modification which will be submitted to the decision of a sentence enforcement judge” at the end of an adversarial hearing, recalls the prosecution.
