This Wednesday, the four candidates still in the Masterchef Québec adventure had to complete a team challenge, aiming to serve customers who were sitting in the studio restaurant. As always, this type of challenge was particularly complex, with time becoming an important issue.

Before arriving at this challenge, the team formed by Jade and Pierre-Alexandre had won an advantage. They were given a choice: two more minutes in the pantry or five minutes less for the other team to cook.

The strategic choice was obviously to penalize the opposing team and that is the decision that was taken. At this time, Chris was particularly disappointed with the choice that had been made, which certainly encouraged discontent in Quebec households, since comments poured in on social networks on this subject. Pierre-Alexandre was particularly attacked by viewers, which is never acceptable, let’s remember.

Jade made a point of responding to detractors in a perfectly relevant and intelligent manner, particularly inviting calm.

She writes: “ I understand people’s disappointment with the 5 minute penalty. However, keep in mind that this is a television show and we have gained an advantage. At the time, it was the best decision for us. We tried as best we could not to harm the other team too much by warning them in advance that we would be using it soon.

Before the challenge, the reds mentioned that they preferred fish and, luckily, we wanted shrimp! So, Pierre-Alexandre didn’t “jump” on the shrimp to harm the other team, he simply wanted to maximize our time.

Keep in mind that you are seeing 22 minutes in a full day of filming. In the end, the meetings we had on the show took place maybe 2-3 hours after the challenge. We had time to talk, to explain and to resolve the challenge.

The fact that Pierre-Alexandre receives hatred and threats on my social networks is unacceptable. Have you forgotten that behind the screen, there are humans? I think it’s time we asked ourselves some questions and looked in the mirror. In the end, intimidating someone is a lot worse than playing a game… »

Chris, like the good sport that he is, wanted to add his two cents to the discussion, also with intelligence: “ Hello everyone! I would like to congratulate Pierre-Alexandre Joly and Jade Auclair-Roy for their super well-deserved top 3!

I haven’t watched the show yet. However I read comments here and I can’t help but speak up… the blues gained their advantage and used it. It’s a competition after all! We don’t control their decision but what we could do with what we had. I am proud to have fought a real battle with Josianne.

And thank you to everyone who has encouraged us from the beginning, it really warms our hearts ❤️! »

Indeed, we must always keep in mind that we are in a competitive context and that the advantages that are used have not been stolen. Even more, let’s never forget that behind the screen, there are real people with feelings, who may resent comments that lack nuance or which fall into hatred for no apparent reason. A candidate from another reality show recently reacted to this same type of violent comments.

Jade and Pierre-Alexandre find themselves in the top 3 of Masterchef Québec and will ultimately have to compete to win the grand prize. It’s this Thursday that we will know who Chris or Josianne will be at their side in the last week of cooking.

Masterchef Québec continues, Monday to Thursday at 7:30 p.m., on TVA, until December 5.
