Another hard blow for the princess. Since being diagnosed with cancer, Kate Middleton has been involved in fight against this disease. This is one of the reasons why she received Liz Hatton, 17, on October 2 at Windsor Castle. The young photographer, suffering from particularly aggressive cancer, dreamed of meeting the princess, with whom she had the opportunity to speak at length, in the company of Prince William.
The poignant moment, immortalized by the royal couple and shared on social networks, shows Kate Middleton hugging Liz Hatton. “I had the pleasure of meet Liz in Windsor today. A talented young photographer whose creativity and strength have inspired us both. Thank you for sharing your photos and story with us”, says the caption.
Kate Middleton: her beautiful meeting with a sick teenager
The young woman suffered from a rare and aggressive cancer which she had been battling since last January, when doctors diagnosed her with small, desmoplastic round tumors affecting the abdomen and pelvis. While Liz Hatton's state of health had deteriorated in recent days, her mother gave the news on Good Morning Britain this Tuesday. Vicky announced that “time was now running out” for his daughter and that the family had chosen to celebrate Christmas early, this first weekend in December.
During the interview, the teenager declared “try to stay positive”, because there is “no point in wasting the little time” remaining. “I chose to stop chemotherapy and just live my life at home and face whatever comes”, she clarified. Liz Hatton, 17, died this Wednesday, November 27, her mother announced on X.
Kate Middleton in mourning: the teenager she received in Windsor has died
“Our incredible daughter Liz passed away in the early hours of this morning. She remained determined until the end. Just yesterday, she was making plans. We are very proud of the kindness, empathy and courage she has shown over the past year (…) There is a gaping Liz-shaped hole in our lives that I don't know how we will ever be able to fill. We are so grateful to each and every one of you, whether you offered to help, liked or shared articles – you made Liz's last two months the best they could be. She flew high until the end”, says the tweet.
For now, Kate Middleton has not yet publicly reacted to the disappearance of young Liz.
