This recovery was also “supported” by the flying start of the 2024 edition of the “Fête du cinéma” (June 30-July 3) which reached “a historic record” on its first day on Sunday “with nearly 1.4 million” admissions, specifies the National Center for Cinema and the Animated Image in its press release.
French works that carry weight
With 13.18 million admissions, attendance increased by “28.9% compared to June 2023”. A French film occupies first place in the ranking for the month: “Un p’tit truc en plus”, the comedy which takes the side of laughing with people with disabilities, signed by the comedian and actor Artus, which has crossed 8 million admissions.
The highly anticipated animated film “Inside Out 2” from Pixar and Disney, which focuses on the throes of adolescence, came in second, followed by the American police comedy “Bad Boys: Ride or Die.”
Another French work climbs to 4th place in the ranking despite only being on release for a few days: “The Count of Monte Cristo” with Pierre Niney, released on Friday, which has already sold over a million tickets.
However, total attendance for the first six months of the year (84.64 million admissions) is slightly down compared to 2023 (91.19 million admissions), i.e. -7.2%.
