‘I am deeply saddened’: Princess Anne breaks silence since hospitalization

After an incident that left her with minor injuries and concussion, Princess Anne was hospitalised at Southmead in Bristol. Now discharged, she is continuing her recovery at Gatcombe Park. Forced to miss the Newfoundland National Memorial centenary ceremony, Princess Anne has delivered a moving message in remembrance of the brave soldiers.

Princess Anne was admitted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol after a “incident“having caused him”minor injuries and concussion” to the head on June 23. After several days of hospitalization, the sister of King Charles III returned in the morning to her country residence of Gatcombe Park in west London, to continue her convalescence.

The accident forced the princess to cancel her attendance at Tuesday night’s state banquet at Buckingham Palace for Japanese Emperor Naruhito and his wife Empress Masako, as well as a trip to Canada later this week. Anne, who is styled Princess Royal, is the busiest member of the royal family, attending hundreds of engagements a year.

Unable to attend the Newfoundland National Memorial centenary ceremony, the aunt of Princes William and Harry wanted to convey a message: “It is with great regret that I am unable to be with you today to commemorate the courageous efforts and sacrifices of the members of the Newfoundland Regiment who fought on the first day of the Somme. I have found memories of my visit in 2016 (…) I am deeply saddened that I will not be able to join you again and I extend my warmest wishes to you on this special day of remembrance.“.
