“Her actions left her paralyzed from the neck down, unable to speak or breathe on her own,” Norfolk police said, sharing images of the victim before and after the accident. , at the request of his father, to raise awareness among road users.

“George Taylor made several decisions to use his cell phone that day and, in doing so, put himself and everyone else in danger. It was Catherine who paid the price,” continued Sergeant Callum Walchester, according to the BBC.

For his part, the young driver received a 26-month prison sentence, and a license suspended for 40 months, after pleading guilty to dangerous driving causing serious injury, the police continued.

“Incidents like these happen indiscriminately: they can happen to anyone, at any time. No matter how good a driver you think you are – if you use your cell phone, you risk the lives of everyone on the road,” insisted Sgt.
