Auvillar. Dréhan: signing morning at the bookstore

Painter exhibiting around the world, but also author, the artist Dréhan will sign his book “Adrienne 1936” on Sunday, December 8 in the morning, at Christelle Bonaventure’s bookstore, Au chemin des livres, 13, place de la Halle in Auvillar. When he is not behind his easel finalizing a canvas, Dréhan, a well-known painter in Tarn-et-Garonne and well beyond, devotes himself to his other passion: writing.

After writing two richly illustrated and informative documentary books, he gave birth to his first novel inspired by a news item that occurred in 1936. Following the discovery of forgotten missives, the author, in search of truth, takes the reader in a fascinating investigation which will take him from Morocco to the borders of Algeria. Sometimes the past resurfaces. It doesn’t take much for it to reappear.

Chance or destiny? The reader is drawn into the reading, absorbed by the narrator’s journey in his search for the buried memories of the rare witnesses of the time. His precise descriptions of geography and customs, although nostalgic, show Dréhan’s attachment to these Maghreb countries where he was born. The story is gripping, makes you take sides with the protagonists of the novel and takes you on a journey through space and time.
