More fear than harm. For Eddy Mitchell, the end of the year was disrupted by serious health problems. Indeed, last October, those close to the singer announced that the release date of his latest album would be postponed due to the octogenarian's state of health. However, no indication of the illness from which the singer was suffering was given until November 22, 2024.
It's on TF1 that Eddy Mitchell gave an update on his health. The 82-year-old singer spoke to Audrey Crespo-Mara on the show Seven to Eightbroadcast next November 24. An extract from this unique and only interview with the artist was revealed by Hello, La Matinale TF1this Friday. A cash interview, like the man who shared the stage alone or with his friends, like Johnny Hallyday or Jacques Dutronc.

Eddy Mitchell: the 82-year-old singer suffered from pneumonia
Absent for several weeks, Claude Moine, his real name, is back. “It's going slowly”, he tells Audrey Crepos-Mara. The reason? “I had pneumonia”. A serious health problem which forces the singer to review his lifestyle. He who has always smoked, drank a few drops of whiskey and partied with friends, must resolve to follow a drastic new diet. Enough to piss off the former member of the Vieilles Canailles trio a little.
“(The doctors) say that you should not smoke, not drink and that you should not eat fatty foods. Finally, nothing more should be done. We follow more or less!”, he says frankly to Audrey Crespo-Mara. Advice that Eddy Mitchell follows, however. Heavy smoker, having held his first cigarette at the age of 14, made the decision to quit smoking a month ago. As for alcohol, here too, doctors' advice should not be taken lightly.
Eddy Mitchell's excesses throughout his career
Eddy Mitchell is a man who lived with the times and the excesses that went with them. What he himself admitted, as our colleagues at Purepeople. Thus, the interpreter of the title “Couleur mint à l’eau” explained consuming
one to two bottles of whiskey per day. At this time in his life, he no longer drank for pleasure, as he said, but “by mania”. Today he no longer drinks. With his health at stake, this new, healthier and wiser pace of life is now necessary.
At 82, Eddy Mitchell may be slowing down, but he hasn't forgotten his audience. Postponed for a while, the release of
his new album, entitled “Amigos”is scheduled for November 29. An album on which the singer's inimitable voice will appear once again.
