In the small town of Trivy, in Saône-et-Loire, there is a rather unusual place: a cabaret! Opened in 2019, the Moulin du Lac is run by the Nesme family. By opening such a place, Baptiste and his parents took on a crazy challenge: to make the Saône countryside beat to the rhythm of music hall revues.

The Moulin du Lac has already had several lives. Taking advantage of the passage of the railway line, it was originally a wine trading establishment which also served as a café. The place was then transformed into a restaurant.

Today, the family business has expanded and offers cabaret shows. From a country café to a music hall, how did the Moulin du Lac transform?

For more than 150 years, the Moulin du Lac has been passed down from generation to generation. With each handover, the establishment gets a new look.
Baptiste Nesme, who represents the seventh generation, joined forces with his parents to open a cabaret. The old barn adjoining the restaurant has been completely transformed to house a stage and a room configured to host dinner shows.
In the heart of the Saône countryside, it is now possible to enjoy a meal while marveling at the rhinestones and sequins that shine under the spotlights.

The idea of opening a music hall did not come to Baptiste by chance. Before proposing this ambitious project to his parents, he worked for a long time in the world of entertainment.
After a stint in Lyon, an experience at Disneyland Paris and a show staged throughout France, he decided to return to his roots to create his own cabaret revues at the Moulin du Lac.

Immediately ready, his parents followed him in the adventure. Those that Baptiste considers as “pillars for the success of the project” work hand in hand with their son to offer spectators a unique experience.
Jean-Charles officiates in the kitchen and Agnès provides technical management during the show, in addition to participating in the writing of the reviews.

At the beginning, it’s true that we were thought to be a bit crazy!

More UOnce the preconceptions are overcome, the spectators often leave won over.

Todaywith around a hundred performancess over the yearwe can say that the bet of the family It’s not was raised. “We have a fairly loyal audience that comes back each year”. From local residents to those who come from further afield, the Trivy cabaret does not fail in any case to arouse curiosity. Il also gives the opportunity to discover festive shows, promoting tolerance and openness, in the heart of a rural region.
