PARODY – He keeps busy as best he can. Two weeks after the start of the Vendée Globe race, skipper Benjamin Ferré was slowed down by a sea of oil on the night of November 18-19. To pass the time, the Frenchman took up contemporary art, reproducing a famous work in the shape of a banana as you can see in the video at the top of the article.
« I learned that an Italian artist auctioned off a banana hung with adhesive, which sold for $1.5 million. I wanted to show you something to have it appraised », explains the skipper of Monnoyeur – DUO for a JOB in a video posted on his social networks. On November 20, 2024, the Sotheby's auction house auctioned the famous fruit in New York. It is estimated between 1 and 1.5 million dollars. An impressive amount which gave Benjamin Ferré desires.

Her name is Peggy the Banana », laughs the 34-year-old Frenchman, currently in 27th place in the ranking. British skipper Sam Goodchild is leading the 10th edition of the Vendée Globe.
