The Michelin Blanzy site is facing water shortages following consecutive episodes of drought. The manufacturer takes 600,000 m3 from the Sorme water reservoir to ensure the cooling of several workshops where the rubbers are heated. In order to secure its water autonomy, challenged by critical low water levels during periods of drought, the factory has embarked on a water storage, treatment and recycling project.
The Hyperloop project aims, by 2025, to recycle 80% of the water resources withdrawn and put it back into circulation in the plant’s internal circuit. For Michelin site director Sascha Kettler, the objective is to reach 100% by 2030.
A cost of 4 million euros
