Actor Paul Teal, known for his time in the popular television series The Scott brothers, died at the age of 35.
It was his wife, Emilia Torello, who shared the sad news on her Instagram account.
“The most caring, most inspiring, most motivated, most disciplined and most loving man passed away on Friday,” his post read.
“You were taken too soon, in a battle that you fought with courage,” she continues.
Paul Teal has died following a battle with cancer.
The actor began his career on television by appearing in seven episodes of the series The Scott Brotherswhich enjoyed immense success with young people in the early 2000s.
Actress Sophia Bush, who played Brooke in the popular series, wrote on Instagram: “Incredibly sad to hear of Paul Teal’s passing. We watch his episodes of One Tree Hill to our podcast Drama Queens and it’s such a talent.”
Two other stars of the television series, Bethany Joy Lenz and Jana Kramer, shared touching messages in his memory.
“My heart is heavy. Paul Teal was the kind of guy who lit up a room effortlessly. His bright smile, contagious laugh and kind heart made you want to be near him,” wrote Lenz, who played Haley James Scott on the series. “His bright smile, contagious laugh and kind heart made you want to be near him.”
She added: “With his self-effacing sense of humor and willingness to fully immerse himself in any character, Paul was perfect for the role [de Josh]. He was a pleasure to work with in any environment and he was so generous.”
Paul Teal played movie star Josh Avery, the love interest of Alex Dupre’s character, played by Jana Kramer, in the seventh season of the series. The actress and singer remembered her late co-star, writing on Instagram Stories:
“Sending love and prayers to Paul Teal’s family and friends. I had the absolute pleasure of working with him on season 7 of OTH. He was always so kind and it was so fun working alongside him. OTH family, please wrap his family and friends in prayers.”
Bush and Kramer join co-star Bethany Joy Lenz, who wrote a lengthy tribute to Teal on Sunday. She recalled how she had worked with him on a musical production of The Notebook in 2006 and having him cast as Josh when she directed an episode of The Scott Brothers.
Teal’s fiancée, Emilia Torello, told TMZ that the actor was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer in April.
The series The Scott Brothers aired from 2003 to 2012. Paul Teal also worked on the series The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Outer Banks et A rusty aftertaste.
