A celebration much appreciated by Monegasques…
Initiated in 1857 by Prince Charles III, Monaco's national day is celebrated each year on November 19. At the start of the day, a solemn mass in the Notre-Dame Immaculée cathedral is given in the presence of Albert and Charlene of Monaco and other members of the princely family. This holiday is considered the Prince's Day and aims to unite the population around their sovereign as well as his family.
Monday, November 18, 2024, the festivities were launched in the evening with a show of 800 drones on the Albert I quay. From 9 p.m., an acoustic concert by Nicoletta and her gospel heart was given. The day after, the princely family was dressed to the nines. Albert of Monaco wore a suit adorned with his many distinctions. His wife wore a lavender suit accompanied by a fascinator of the same color.

Also present, Jacques and Gabriella from Monaco were very elegant. Jacques wore a black uniform, with red and white accessories reminiscent of the Monegasque colors. Her sister sported a pale blue dressballerinas in the same tones and a headband.

A year earlier, for Monaco-Matin, Charlene of Monaco spoke about the national holiday. “Gabriella looks forward to choosing a pretty dress for the formals every year. She told me she hoped to wear a hat!“she confided. For this special day, mother and daughter opted for matching coats and fascinators.
Asked about his oldest memory of National Day, Albert of Monaco slipped: “I must have been five or six years old, it was 60 years ago! Maybe even before, because I think I wore the rifle uniform for the first time at 3 years old. I remember the parades of courseand the fact that we disappeared at lunch time, because we were not invited”.
