It is THE crime fiction festival who climbs into the agglomeration of Caen (Calvados) and even beyond. Bloody Fleury, organized at Fleury-sur-Orne south of Caen returns in 2025, from March 7 to 9. Always freethe festivals attract 5,000 visitors over the three days with a formula that works: dedicationsbut above all activities based on interesting and original conferences.
And for the year 2025, the crime fiction festival struck a big blow by announcing a first prestigious guest.
Selected for the Prix Goncourt 2024
This is the French thriller author Olivier Norek. The Toulouse author and former judicial police captain in Seine-Saint-Denis, has seven thrillers to his credit, including the series with the main character Captain Victor Coste.
Recently, Olivier Norek left the world of crime fiction to write The Winter Warriorsa novel that traces Finland’s historical resistance to the Soviet invasion. For this novel, he received the Jean Giono prize and it was selected among the first 16 novels of the Prix Goncourt and is one of the five finalists for the Renaudot prize.
Olivier Norek will be present at the Bloody Fleury festival on Saturday March 8 where he will give a long interview in the large festival hall (180 seats) and will play the game of signatures.
A great catch for the festival
“We contacted him eight to ten months ago by email,” explains Jérôme Félix, artistic director of the festival. “We explained the principle of the festival to him and he showed interest. »
The artistic director of Bloody Fleury then spoke with the press officer at Michel Lafon of Olivier Norek for several weeks. “She had already heard about the festival. »
With the arrival of Olivier Norek, we establish the festival. Bloody Fleury is shown to be a high-level event in the Caen area.
Surprising themes
And if the festival attracts so much, it is because it has managed to stand out from those “who do chain signings”, by offering conferences and thematic events such as meetings with a former secret agent or with a specialist in cold cases (unsolved cases).
” This year, the head of GEPAN (Study group of unidentified aerospace phenomena, editor’s note) will be present. It’s completely unusual and that’s what we want: to find surprising themes, because the public is looking for interaction. »
