Anora is a young stripper who performs in a specialized club in New York. Normally, the surplus requested by customers does not go beyond a few touches… Except that that evening, one of the customers, Yvan, a very young heir to a wealthy oligarch, falls under the spell of Anora and offers him the thing, for a sumptuous price of course.
Wild parties
Handsome and sparing, Anora lets herself be taken to the magnificent villa made available to the kid by his parents who remained in Russia. One thing leads to another, from wild parties to coke runs that are no less so, Yvan asks for his hand from young Anora who has also fallen under Slavic charm.
One plane later, direction Las Vegas and they are married. Which does not take long to reach the ears of the parents… They immediately send a squad of broken arms to break the said marriage contract. Especially without making waves and without touching Yvan. Anora doesn’t quite hear it the same way and will defend herself tooth and nail while her beloved hangs out between two bottles of vodka.
The sex and bacchanalia period gives way to a momentum which borders on, and well beyond, fighting. While trying to do as little damage as possible. The two lower ceilings in charge of the case are more like Nickel Feet than Jason Bourne.
Modern-day tragedy-comedy
They are the comic mirror of the tragedy that this Cinderella goes through, lost in the middle of the 21st century, blinded by the money flowing freely and not having understood the inanity of her immature Don Juan in search simply of immediate pleasures and video games .
Led at a hellish pace, this modern-day tragicomedy brings us some great discoveries including Mickey Madisonnaive Anora who will prove more pugnacious than expected, and Mark Eydelshteyn, Yvan painting the perfectly delirious portrait of these spoiled young people living above ground.
Special mention for a supporting role that is astonishingly present, Yuri Borisov plays Igor, one of the oligarch’s henchmen. He will take center stage at the end of the film, introducing us to an unexpected personality in the face of Anora’s distress. A very beautiful composition.
A whirlwind film where laughter mixes virtuously with the most intense emotions.
Robert Pénavayre
