Chis distinction, announced Wednesday evening during a ceremony marked by the presence of an audience of personalities from the world of cinema, arts, culture, diplomacy and the media, is the second obtained by the Moroccan actress for this role, after the prize for female interpretation at the Festival 2 Cinéma in Valenciennes, in France.
In a statement to MAP, the artist, who is currently taking part in the 45e Cairo International Film Festival as a member of the jury, said:proud” to receive this prize that she “sharing with a large and beautiful film team, who worked with seriousness and self-sacrifice”.
“We worked a lot to ensure that the feature film had a global impact, particularly the voice of Touda, as well as the Chikhates and the art of Aita in Morocco.”, she indicated.
And to add that she is “all the more happy and proud, after the effort made to portray this difficult role in the film”. “It was the efforts of a year and a half of preparation with great artists, particularly the late Khadija El Bidaouia, which allowed me to approach the art of Aita and make their voice heard to the whole world”, added the heroine of Everybody loves Touda.
The film features the character of Touda, who dreams of becoming Chikha, performing songs of resistance, love and emancipation, and nourishes the hope of a better future for her and her son, but her destiny is upset by a series of unforeseen events.
Everybody loves Toudascreened at the opening of the 30e edition of the MedFilm Festival in Rome, will be distributed in Italy through the prestigious house Maestro Distribution.
The feature film, which won several awards at world-renowned film events, was selected to represent Morocco at the 2025 Oscars, in the “Best International Film” category.
Outre Everybody loves ToudaMoroccan cinema is represented at the MedFilm Festival by feature films Adam by its director Maryam Touzani, Bye Bye Benz Benz by Mamoun Rtal Bennani and Jules Rouffio, as well as by Living by Anas Bouzammour.
