Only a few weeks left before discovering the 2024 edition of the Festival of Lights, which will take place this year from Thursday 5 to Sunday 8 December.

The program, unveiled at the beginning of November by the City of Lyon, provides for new locations, the return of old significant works, but also some changes regarding schedules. We take stock.

Changes to the Tête d’Or park

Regarding the overall festivities of the event, their schedules remain unchanged compared to the previous year. They will take place from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.

The changes mainly concern the Tête d'Or park, the organization of which has been revised to avoid hiccups. For example, entry will no longer be via the Porte des Enfants du Rhône (which will be reserved for disabled people) but via the Porte Tête d'Or.

Finally, the park gates, which are used to closing 30 minutes before the end of the illuminations, will close this year one hour before. That is 10 p.m. for Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 9 p.m. for Sunday. So you don't have to be late!

A little more time for Sergent Blandan Park

Sergent Blandan Park will be open 30 minutes longer than in 2023, from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The Cité Jardin de Gerland, which will host a work for the first time, will be open at the same times only on Friday and Saturday.

The Part-Dieu auditorium, which will also host a work in the form of video mapping, will be accessible from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. the first three days and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. The proposed work will even be visible after the Festival of Lights during 11 concert dates in December and January.

Daytime hours

During the day, the Théâtre des Célestins will be open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays.

The work exhibited at the Automobile Museum, in Rochetaillée-sur-Saône, will be accessible from Wednesday December 4 and until January 5, 2025 from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday, Saturday and Sunday December 8 from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. .

The Fourvière basilica returns from Thursday to Saturday

The sound and light organized by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region will take place this year during part of the Festival of Lights.

The show will be projected on the facade of the basilica from Thursday December 5 to Saturday December 7 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., not on Sunday and from December 26 to 31 from 6:45 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. during the Christmas school holidays.
