Since the end of filming last February, we have had no news about the series Star Wars : Andor on Disney+. It must be said that the program has been very busy for the galaxy far, far away imagined by George Lucas in 1977. In a few weeks, a new series should also take over our screens, just to end the year in style. After Skeleton Crewit is therefore with season 2 ofAndor that the spectators have an appointment. As the Disney+ platform suggested earlier this afternoon, the next episodes will be released in April. For a few hours, theThe date of April 22 was made public on the subscription streaming service… before disappearing. This hasty announcement was made official this Saturday, November 9 in São Paulo during the first edition D23 Brazil.
Launched in 2022 on Disney+, Andor is a spin-off of a film which was itself a spin-off production. Under the direction of Stephen Giff and Tony Gilroy, the series focused on the past of Cassian Andor played by Diego Luna. The character appeared for the first time Rogue : A Star Wars Story. If Gareth Edwards' film told the story of the recovery of the Death Star plans by a band of reckless rebels, Andor focused on which led the character to join the resistance movement. Thanks to its construction, with numerous ellipses, and its polished staging, the series stood out from the rest on Disney+. Benefiting from an enthusiastic review and very good audiences, the series designed in two parts wasted no time in be renewed. The deadline is approaching, and it will be a matter of hanging up with the events of Rogue One. We can expect to find a construction in several chapters of three episodes, and therefore a last large piece devoted to the events which precede his meeting with Jyn Erso.
A season 3?
After the failures of some of its series, Lucasfilm may want to turn to universes that have proven themselves. If The Mandalorian is already promised to his film, Andor will theoretically not be able to return for a third round of episodes. His story ended tragically in Rogue Oneleaving little room for the writers to delve deeper into their subject. Diego Luna left little room for doubt last February. On Instagram, he shared a message that looked like a farewell to Cassian Andor and the license Star Wars.
“Today was the last day of filming for Andor. I couldn't be more grateful to the whole team for the fantastic experience during these years of hard work. Over 700 people worked on this production and it is impossible to say goodbye and thank you to each one individually, hence my post here. Thank you for the love and this great experience. See you soon”
So see you on April 22 on Disney+ to discover the first chapters of this new vintage ofAndor. If this season 2 lives up to the previous one, the series could offer itself once again a place of choice during ceremonies rewarding the best of the small screen. In 2023, Andor was invited among the productions competing for the title of best drama series at the Emmy Awards. The series was also nominated for best direction and best screenplay awards. If Disney+ had not won any statuettesseason 2 could be the consecration. After all, what better way to bow out than with honors!
