Thomas Dutronc, complete artist and son of the legendary couple formed by Françoise Hardy and Jacques Dutronc between 1966 and 1991, has always been very close to his illustrious parents. He also bought a house a few kilometers from his father’s refuge, in the Corsican Balagne. Without forgetting to add a little of his mother, thanks, in particular, to a decorative object full of meaning.

Thomas Dutronc: his poignant tribute to his mother Françoise Hardy

“Mom is gone”: Tuesday June 11, 2024, it is with these words, posted under a souvenir photo of his mother and him as a baby, that Thomas Dutronc announces the sad news. Françoise Hardy, the unforgettable interpreter of time of love died at age 80following a cancer which had seriously diminished her in recent years.

Less than two days later, on Thursday June 13, while performing on the stage of the Jazz Opale Festival, in Pas-de-Calais, the singer courageously took over one of his mother’s titles, with a lot of emotion. “In England we say ‘elephant in the room’ [l’énorme sujet dont on évite de parler] (…) We cannot translate into French but for me, my ‘elephant in the room’ is the departure of my mother towards other skies”, commented, on the microphone, Thomas Dutronc after his poignant performance.

The artist has never hidden his admiration – and his affection without limit – for the parental duo Dutronc-Hardy. About ten years ago, he even bought a pied-à-terre in Lumio, a Corsican village on the heights of Calvia few kilometers from the family home in Monticello, where Jacques Dutronc still lives today.

A luminous cocoon, surrounded by the mountain, which he has taken care to improve since: in 2023, he had the bathroom renovated, and shared the result on Instagram: a room between refined modernity and traditional charm, which seems to reflect the personality of the owner quite well. Thomas Dutronc boasted, in the same post, of having found the perfect sofa, a rectangular beige sofa from Moroso.

Her taste for timeless decor perhaps comes from her mother: Françoise Hardy liked to surround herself with cult, very sixties design objects. Moreover, if we look closely at the photo of the living room of Thomas Dutroncwe see, in the background, retro-style felted armchairs, and especially, a beautiful tribute to his mother : hung on the wall, a large portrait of the young Françoise Hardy, bangs, long hair and a melancholy look under an enigmatic red light, seems to watch over his son.

According to Paris Matchthe ashes of Françoise Hardy, who wished to be cremated, could be scattered in Corsica, after the artist’s funeral. “If I have to get to the other side in 2024, I would like, like everyone, for it to be quick and not too painful. Even if the pain of separation from my son and his father will be infiniteentrusted the icon to Parisian a few months ago, before adding: I hope to leave Thomas enough to pay exorbitant inheritance taxes which will be claimed from him.
