In recent weeks, Kristian Malmin has appeared in the coaches column in France. But this Norwegian professional, No. 2 tunemaker in his country in 2023 (behind Frode Hamre), was not just starting out in French racing. For several years, in Northern Europe as in France, it has had a wonderful history with Oracle Tileof which he is the co-owner and trainer. His horse, who then joined the Duvaldestin stable between the end of 2022 and the end of 2023, won four times in the temple of trotting, notably winning the Prix Jean-René Gougeon (Gr. III). A few months later, the son of Ready Cash distinguished himself in one of the highlights of the summer meeting on the Soisy plateau, the 2023 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère (Gr. II), after a third place in the Prix René Ballière (Gr. I), won by Hokkaido Jielon the Parisian dust.
For several months now, Oracle Tile is back in Kristian Malmin’s squad and in recent weeks, this 8-year-old horse has returned to France for the winter meeting. After a second place in the Prix des Cévennes (Gr. III) last week, he is heading to the Prix du Languedoc (Gr. III) this Saturday. “It will, normally, be a better race for himanalysis Kristian Malmin. He is better engaged and is in good shape. He ran very well last Thursday and was not tired from the race. We are optimistic for Saturday, he is 100%.”
“America? It’s the dream”
The winter meeting is quite simply the highlight of the season for Oracle Tile. “The track suits him perfectly, with the descent then the climbcontinues the coach with 55 victories this season in Norway. He also appreciates the surface. He is a tough horse who always has speed at the end of the course.. Let’s hope from now on that he won’t have any problems and that he will stay in good health so that he can have a good meeting.” Then, the representative of Stall Ready To Win should be at the start of the second “B”, the Prix du Bourbonnais (Gr. II). “We plan to run this race, to see if we have a place with his winnings (Editor’s note, €564,926). But I hope so.” With the aim of the ticket for the Prix d’Amérique? “It’s the dreamcontinues the Norwegian. He’s a really good horse, and with a good run, I think he can qualify. Two years ago, he finished sixth in this race, for his first steps with Thierry Duvaldestin. Since then, he has had his experience against good horses, without having raced much. He’s in good shape, and I think he’s ready to do well.”
An antenna in France
Recently, the person who watches over the destiny of around 70 horses has had an office in France, in Laval. “This stable is brand new, we started this monthhe emphasizes. I currently have few horses present but I think I will be able to accommodate 10 to 12 horses.”And on a daily basis, it will be Matilde Herleiksplass (57 victories as driver/jockey in France), also from Norway, who will watch over the destiny of her horses. “She obtained her coaching licensecontinues Kristian Malmin. She has her own horses and she’s going to help me with mine.” The name of Kristian Malmin should therefore become even more prominent in the panorama of French racing over the coming months.
