Afara Tsena and Paterne Maestro are in the running for the ninth edition of the International Urban Prize (Primud), which will be held on Sunday, November 10 in Abidjan.

The 9e edition of Primud will be held on Sunday November 10 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. This merit award ceremony aims to promote diversity and African cultural wealth, by highlighting the creators who bring art to life and shine on the continent and around the world. It also contributes to the development and promotion of the African cultural industry, by promoting exchanges and opportunities between players in the sector.

Afara Tsena and Paterne Maestro are the two Congolese people in the list of nominees. Afara Tsena, who is nominated in the “Best artist from Central Africa” category, is facing Innoss’B, Gaz Mawete, Rj Kaniera, Emmaa, Kacee, Krys M, Mamie. For the “Best French-speaking rapper artist” prize, Paterne Maestro will compete with Didi B, Suspect 95, Iba one and Smarty, Alesh.

Through its innovative “Afro-Mbokalisation” concept which combines the ndombolo, the offbeat coupe and the folklore of his country, Afara Tsena has succeeded in thrilling crowds in Congo and everywhere else.

For his part, Paterne Maestro, whose real name is Auge Paterne Okonda Otou, is a songwriter and rapper. He is a rising figure in Congolese urban music, bringing a new dimension to rap thanks to his folkloric approach and his direct interaction with the public.

Remember that the Primud is an initiative of the Ivorian artist, precursor of the offbeat coupe Molare.
