From dawn to night – Bobo-Dioulasso

What do you hear from dawn to night in your city? Children from the Koko neighborhood in Bobo-Dioulasso heard, recorded and said orally in Dioula, their mother tongue, all the sounds that go through their day. From the alarm of the morning siren of the central town hall through the cries of the market sellers, to the regular knocking of wood on the fabric of the bazin tappers, to the sounds of the night. Sound crossing at children’s level.

In Bobo-Dioulasso, children participate in artistic workshops organized by the Winged Valve for thirty years. This association founded by two sculptors Angel and Daminvites artists in residence to Burkina Faso to create with children. During the “Koko in the Ears” workshop led by Monica Fantini and Valérie Nivelon, children identified, listened to and recorded the sounds of their daily lives to compose a CD and this episode.
