Public voting began in October for more than three hundred and fifty nominated artists. Only the best in each category out of the twenty-two will be awarded prizes. The votes are distributed as follows: 20% on the Internet, 40% by SMS and 40% by the members of the jury. For the battle for the “Best Central African Artist” prize, Afara Tsena will face artists such as Innoss’B, Gaz Mawete, Rj Kaniera, Emmaa, Kacee, Krys M, Mamie. On the other hand, for the “Best French-speaking rapper artist” prize, Paterne Maestro will compete with Didi B, Suspect 95, Iba one and Smarty, Alesh.

Afara Tsena Fukushima, winner of the ”Pool Malebo musical revelation” prize during the 11e edition of the Mwana Mboka trophy, in Kinshasa, and that of “Best artist of the year” obtained during the 19e edition of the Sanza de Mfoa and Brazza best Awards trophy, continues to make its mark in the musical world. His innovative concept “Afro-Mbokalisation” combines the ndombolo, the offbeat coupe and the folklore of his country, Afara Tsena has succeeded in thrilling crowds in Congo and everywhere else. lovers everywhere can’t help but move to the sound of Afro-Mbokalization. Through this concept, the young Congolese artist proudly claims the traditional national sounds. For his part, Paterne Maestro, whose real name is Auge Paterne Okonda Otou, is a songwriter and rapper. He is a rising figure in Congolese urban music, bringing a new dimension to rap thanks to his folkloric approach and his direct interaction with the public. His career, although relatively recent, is already marked by significant successes and growing recognition in the world of music. Guest of the show Couleurstropicaux with Claudi Siar on RFI, he was recognized as best rapper artist during the Brazza best Awards 2023, testifying to his impact on the music scene. His musical career officially began in 2016, with three singles including one solo and two collaborations. His music is characterized by a mixture of rap and folklore that he calls ”folkloric rap”, and addresses conscious themes, rooted in Congolese cultural heritage. He made himself known on the Congolese rap scene thanks to his concept of interactive freestyle, which allowed him to get closer to his audience and increase his visibility on digital platforms. His slogan ”Eeeh saint Michel eee, ba neighbor ba djokelééé” has become a rallying cry for his fans who regularly meet at his “baseron”, a meeting place.
