The Calgary Stampede has unveiled the poster for its 2025 edition. The selected work was created by Elora Kiddle, a 22-year-old Calgarian.
The young woman is rewarded after two unsuccessful attempts.
For me, it’s really the start of my career

When it was announced to me, I didn’t expect it at all. I got into my car and started crying tears of joy. I called my mother, and she did the same thing.
The painting depicts Texas competitor Kellie Jorgensen on her horse during a barrel race. It was painted from a photo taken during the 2021 Stampede.

The canvas, made with acrylic paint, borrows elements of realism and features splashes of paint.

The artist was particularly inspired by her first job at the Stampede, where she had the opportunity to attend competitions every day.
I’ve been going to the Stampede every year since I was born. The Stampede is an integral part of my family’s traditions
she explains. She also says that her father and sister are part of the festival orchestra.
Elora Kiddle is the seventh artist to win the Stampede Youth Poster Competition. This highlights the work of young artists from Alberta who are between 15 and 24 years old. Along the way, she pocketed a $10,000 scholarship from Dustin Peers Memorial.
The last edition of the Calgary Stampede attracted a record crowd of 1,477,953 visitors.
The next edition will take place from July 4 to 13, 2025.
