The former Miss filed a complaint last September for “violence” against her companion Bruno Pelat. The hearing, which was held in September, was postponed.

His lawyer had requested, in September, the postponement of the hearing so that Iris Mittenaere could be present. The former companion of Miss France and Miss Universe 2016 is on trial this Wednesday, November 6 by the criminal court for domestic violence.

The facts date from the night of September 23 to 24 at the Parisian home of Bruno Pelat, companion of Iris Mittenaere, a six-month relationship about which she has always remained discreet. The young woman then made a report on the digital victim support platform.

Violence and threats

Bruno Pelat, 22, son of an influential real estate business manager, himself working in the family business, was taken into police custody on September 24 at the police station in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. Police custody which had been extended before the young man was tried for “domestic violence without total incapacity for work” in immediate appearance.

During this brief hearing, the president of the court recalled the facts alleged against the defendant, namely beatings, hitting her head against a wall and threatening to “blow up” her contracts, and this since June 2024. It was during these debates that Iris Mittenaere's lawyer requested a postponement, her client believing “not to have said everything to the police station”.

That day, Me Emilie Bruézière indicated that the young woman “was not in the psychological capacity today (September 27, Editor's note) to come to the hearing.

Already convicted in the past

Pending this new hearing, Bruno Pelat was placed under judicial supervision with a ban on making contact, in any way, with Iris Mittenaere.

A request from the young woman who, through her lawyer, had indicated that she did not want the young man to be imprisoned. The latter justified his behavior by “a problem of impulsivity” confiding “being afraid of abandonment”.

3919

3919 is the listening and guidance number for women victims of violence. The number is free, anonymous and accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It directs women who contact it to appropriate associations and structures to benefit from support.

The representative of the prosecution had, during this brief hearing, recalled the criminal record of Bruno Pelat already convicted in June 2022 for violence and death threats against his father, then in April 2023 for violence against another partner.

The defendant “recourses to threats and violence which seems to be a habitual recourse in the context of the relationships he maintains with those around him”, the prosecutor raised. The latter considering that he had benefited from “extremely lenient sentences” in the past: “dispensation of sentence and simple reprieve”.
