A great first for all dance lovers who do not have the chance to attend, for different reasons, the Parisian Bastille Opera. The ballet “Swan Lake” will be broadcast in IMAX in several cinemas in Toulouse on Friday November 8, 2024.
With the dancers of the Paris National Opera
Indeed, last June and during four filming sessions, including two without an audience in order to allow the presence of cameras on stage alongside the dancers, the Paris National Opera, Pathé Live and IMAX filmed a legendary ballet appearing in the repertoire of the great classical companies: Swan Lake. This is a world first!
From an artistic point of view, it is one of the most prestigious ballet companies in the world, that of the Paris National Opera. The choreography is that created for him by Rudolf Noureev in 1984. In addition to the magnificent corps de ballet, three exceptional soloists occupy the stage, including two Étoiles, the South Korean Sae Eun Park in the double role of Odette/Odile, and the Dacquois Paul Marque in that of Prince Siegfried .
It is the Parisian Pablo Legasa, first dancer since 2020, who will don the dark costume of Rothbart. The orchestra of the Paris National Opera is under the direction of an expert in the field, master Vello Pähn, a regular guest on the French premier stage to direct the dance performances.
An extraordinary sound
From a technical point of view, we should expect a film of great beauty. In fact, all the digital cameras used are IMAX certified. An extraordinary sound, and let’s not forget that the music of this ballet is signed Piotr Ilitch Tchaikovsky. As for the size of the IMAX screens, it guarantees us absolute immersion at the very heart of this show, as close as possible to the performers and their emotions.
Nearly 2,000 theaters around the world will experience this broadcast.
Here is the trailer for the film:
