As soon as it was released on May 3, “Imagine” by Carbonne rose to first place among the most listened to Music on Spotify in France, accumulating more than 4 million plays. “It was a surprise, it happened suddenly, I didn’t expect it to be so intense. It allowed us to open our first tour. I will finally be able to meet our audience,” smiles the young 28-year-old rapper.
Coming from Montpellier, Carbonne, influenced by his Spanish roots and a Mediterranean experience, opened for big names in rap like Youssoupha, Lorenzo or Bigflo & Oli… Success did not turn his head: “We continued to work, released as an EP at the beginning of July. » The titles “Everything will change”, “0 questions”, “Valhalla” and even “Oscarina”, all exceed one million plays on Spotify… The tour passes through Biarritz and Bordeaux before ending on April 17, 2025 on the scene of La Cigale in Paris.
Influenced by his daily life
Nominated for the NRJ Music Awards, which took place on Friday 1is November, he found himself in Cannes for the first time in his life, on stage, to perform “Imagine”. Not even impressed: “I’ve seen this show so many times on TV!” It was fantastic to be there in real life,” he emphasizes. In his music, he likes to mix “acoustic and electronic sounds, but for an organic result: with voices, to give something unifying. And even in the most sunny sounds, we find melancholy. I like to convey sadness with a big smile. It’s everyday life that influences me, the energy in which I am. »
Carbonne admits to not listening to much at the moment: “I need breaks, I enjoy the calm between two concerts. » Favorite artists? “At the moment I like Kali Uchis and in particular the “Moonlight” sound. I listen to a lot of rap, modern music, even pop. »
