The annual alternation between the Mirecourt international violin competition and the international music festival dates back to 2009. Since this launch, the events have followed each other annually with the exception of 2020 due to Covid.

A first concert at the Bouxurulles church

The 2024 edition of the international music festival will be launched at the Bouxurulles church on Tuesday November 12 at 8:30 p.m. with an exceptional duo: Marianne Piketty on the violin and Mélanie Brégant on the accordion. Complementary travel instruments that sing and dance at the same time.

“They carry nostalgia from east to west, know how to revive the distant homeland, the tunes transmitted by generations of the past and entertain in working-class neighborhoods,” expresses Jean-Pierre Bégel, president of the Mirecurtian branch of Jeunesses musicales de (JMF), organizer of the event.

A second performance will take place on Wednesday, November 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the Violin and Bowmaking Museum in Mirecourt.

Four performances of the Ideal Concert

The Ideal Concert orchestra will then perform four times as part of the eighth international music festival. The musical ensemble, under the direction of Marianne Piketty, violinist, will perform The seasons by Vivaldi and Piazzolla.

“When Vivaldi (1678-1741) and Piazzolla (1921-1992), geniuses of baroque music and Argentine tango, meet, two spaces, two times, enter into dialogue. In a game of mirrors, the seasons multiply, respond to each other, mingle, collide, rub, reveal themselves to each other,” expresses Jean-Pierre Bégel, indicating in passing all the generosity and ambition of the orchestra Ideal concert. Especially since a choreographic adaptation by Jean-Marc Hoolbecq, who notably collaborated with the Comédie Française, adds to the magnificence of the show.
