Killed in the street

On September 29, 2020, Frank Goes, 54, left his offices in Jette. This influential businessman, active in construction and real estate and president of the Federation of General Construction Contractors (Faba), was attacked shortly after 6:30 p.m. in the street by an unknown person. Suffering several stab wounds, including one to the heart, he died on the spot.

Examination of camera images, coupled with telephone analyses, leads to a Renault Clio rented in the Liège region by one of the accused, Ismaël Diallo. Also heard by investigators, his partner explained that he had told her that one of his friends had killed someone.

Confronted with these statements, Ismaël Diallo names Dylan Duby, a former professional footballer who briefly played in the German second division. Duby explained to him that the objective was not to kill this person but to put them on long-term incapacity for work.

In January 2021, Dylan Duby made a confession. He claims to have been approached by a certain “Yassin” – who was later identified as Yaser Abau, another accused. The latter, he said, offered him three contracts in order to put people on incapacity for work. He received the first two names, Frank Goes and an architect, Nicolas Lesens. He wanted to attack the latter but he was on his guard. Dylan Duby can only give a vague indication for the third: a “Jew” active in construction, who lives near an embassy.

The architect revealed the rumors about small arrangements in the sector: trustees would receive percentages if they succeed in passing the company of their choice to the co-owners.

Dylan Duby, who indicates that he received 8,500 euros for the only Frank Goes case to whom he went with Gradi Kato Irenge, another accused, adds that “Yassin” had told him that because of these three people, the sponsor lost a lot of money.

The architect’s secrets

Nicolas Lesens is an architect specializing in the renovation of buildings. He works for co-ownerships and his clients are trustees. Asked if he has problems with certain people, he cites the City facade company. He reveals the rumors about small arrangements in the sector: trustees would receive percentages if they succeed in getting the company of their choice through. City façade, whose work he does not appreciate and advises against, would thus win contracts.

Nicolas Lesens explains that, if he is unable to work and unable to travel, City façade could return to the race for contracts. Thanks to Mr. Lesens, the investigators identify the “Jew”, who is the boss of a facade renovation company, first in terms of turnover in Brussels, just ahead of City facade.

Yaser Abau, who will be identified thanks to the telephone, and Youssef Allali, the boss of City façade, who is suspected of being the sponsor, are wiretapped. On February 1, 2021, they were arrested. There is no question of confessions before the investigators or the judge. But elements are intriguing, such as the fact that, just like Dylan Duby, they changed phones the day after the death of Frank Goes.

Yaser Abau and Youssef Allali are not close friends. The first, who was a security guard, sold electronic equipment to the second.

A too talkative intermediary

Yaser Abau, however, confesses to one of the police officers who transfers him from the Brussels courthouse to Namur prison. He revealed to her that he had served as an intermediary on behalf of a boss who wanted another boss to be placed on long-term disability but that the latter had died as a result. Hearing again, Yaser Abau turns pale and says he “made up a story on the way to prison”. Youssef Allali has always denied it.

At the material time, none of the accused had a criminal record. Dylan Duby, however, continued to be talked about. Last July, he was sentenced to five years in prison with immediate arrest for human trafficking, pimping and threats. He is on appeal.
