Next Friday, November 8 will mark Alain Delon’s first posthumous birthday. The actor of Cheetahwho died on August 18, would have been 89 years old. As this occasion approaches, and two days after All Saints’ Day, her daughter Anouchka Delon reveals this Sunday, November 3 on Instagram the text she read at her funeral.

“I’m not going to be able to give you a (birthday) present,” she regrets in the caption. “In this case I’ll give one to your audience.”

The last tribute ceremony to Alain Delon took place on August 24 in a private chapel in Douchy, in , where the actor owned a property. He was buried there in privacy, as he wished. The text read by Anouchka Delon that day, presented on Instagram, extends over four handwritten pages.

“You are a man of few words, and here it is I who struggle to find mine. So, for the last time, I will try to keep it short, try to do it well.”

“You often say that you owe everything to your audience, that it is they who made you. As you loved them, as they still love you,” continues Anouchka Delon. “Eternal rebel, you always did what you wanted, always liked to prove to all these idiots that they were wrong. How I would like you to prove us wrong once again, to prove to us your immortality.”

“Proven tender heart”

“Dreaded dissatisfaction but proven tender heart, you are convinced, and rightly so, that what the world lacks most is people who love each other.”

“Under the leaves of a Douchy oak, on the highest branch, a nightingale sang. Sing nightingale, sing. You who have a cheerful heart, you have the heart to live, I have it to cry.” She concludes with the words of the nursery rhyme At the clear fountain: “I have loved you for a long time. I will never, never forget you…”

Alain Delon, who wanted neither national tribute nor political ceremony, therefore had a funeral far from the spotlight. Around forty relatives were present, including Paul Belmondo and Nicole Calfan. However, fans gathered in front of the gates of the Brûlerie in Douchy to pay him a last tribute.

Before the actor’s death, the siblings had shown themselves to be very disunitedfacing the end of their father’s life. Anthony and Alain-Fabien wanted to respect his wish to stay in Douchy while Anouchka wanted to have him treated in Switzerland. The eldest, Anthony Delon, recently mentioned the project of opening Douchy to the public, based on the model of Maison Gainsbourg.
