In his book “Le Bastion des Larmes”, we discover Youssef, a Moroccan professor exiled in for a quarter of a century, who returns to Salé, his hometown, after the death of his mother. There, an entire past resurfaces… As Youssef goes deeper into the streets of the current city, a lost world takes shape again, stalked by poverty and violence, where difference, sexual and social, is paid at a high price. .

Note that the Moroccan writer was also rewarded on October 16 with the French Language Prize, created by the city of Brive to reward a personality whose “work has contributed significantly to illustrating the quality and beauty of the French language”. This prize, worth 10,000 euros, will be awarded to Abdellah Taïa on November 8 during the inauguration of the 42nd Brive Book Fair.
