JUSTICE – The alleged facts now date back to the fall of 2021. The Paris Court of Appeal confirmed this Tuesday, October 29, the referral for rape to the departmental criminal court of the rapper Naps, whose real name is Nabil Boukhobza, suspected of having raped a young woman while she slept, AFP learned from a judicial source.
The investigating chamber of the Court of Appeal also kept him under judicial supervision, said the same source.
“Naps will appear at his trial in complete serenity, with the same state of mind that was his during the investigation”assured his lawyer Nabil Boudi, contacted by AFP.
The council had appealed the order made by an investigating judge in May: the magistrate ordered that the author of the hit The kiffancewidely followed on social networks with a million subscribers to his Instagram account, be tried for rape.
This case began with a complaint in October 2021. “A young woman explained that she had spent the evening of the day before in an establishment in the 9th arrondissement” from the capital, then “being invited with friends to the rapper’s table”according to the Paris prosecutor's office.
Two versions of the facts
“They then followed him to his room in a hotel near the Gare de Lyon, gradually left by the rapper's friends”during an evening where everyone had notably consumed balloons filled with nitrous oxide, a gas diverted from its use for its hilarious effect.
“The young women had fallen asleep and one said she was awakened by sexual intercourse to which she had not consented”the prosecution continued.
According to an account of the alleged facts made in The Parisian this Tuesday, the young woman “would have felt during his sleep that someone was trying to remove his underwear on several occasions without being aware of what was happening”after the excesses of the evening.
According to the rapper's version, the young woman “was (…) awake and was not wearing panties” et “it is in this context that he would have penetrated the young woman, according to him consenting”.
This Tuesday, the court of appeal “validated all the charges retained after three years of investigations and which therefore justify the holding of a trial before the criminal court”underlined Me Jean-Baptiste Boué-Diacquenod who represents the civil party.
Other investigations also target Naps in the Var: three women filed complaints against him, and the singer was indicted in August for rape and sexual assault.
