The year will have been rich from a “political” point of view. After European elections won largely by the National gatheringEmmanuel Macron made a decision that divided: dissolve the National Assembly pushing the French to return to the polls. Objective: vote in the legislative elections in order to appoint their new deputies. This time, the New Popular Front came first on the evening of July 7, 2024.

A result which has turned the head of state's summer upside down and his wife Brigitte. As the Olympic Games approach, Gabriel Attal kept his place until Emmanuel Macron found the best candidate for Matignon. The weeks passed and it was, finally, on September 5 that Michel Barnier was appointed by Brigitte's companion. All he had left to do was compose a government plunging former ministers into endless waiting.

Finally, the list of ministers was announced on Saturday September 21. Some launched into the boxes while others were able to take a breather like Rachida Data. The close friend of Nicolas Sarkozy retained his place at the Ministry of Culture. A prestigious position which was offered, a few years ago, to a unexpected personality. The tenant of the Élysée dreamed of having him at his side.

Emmanuel Macron: he extends his hand to… Michel Denisot

While it will be released this October 30 a new book called Very first time: they all started on Canal + (Éditions Flammarion), Michel Denisot confided in our colleagues at La Tribune Sunday this September 27. Producer, presenter, editor or football club manager, the 79-year-old could have added a line to his CV; that of minister.

In his work, the father of two children recounts this anecdote that dates back to 2020 : “Well, I don't really want to bring it back to that, but it was quite surprising for me… It happened in a bistro, (…) I had coffee with a relative of president who offered me a ministry…If it had still been Sports, I would have understood. But it was Culture ! To this, Michel Denisot adds: “It was before the appointment of Roselyne Bachelot. I didn't feel legitimate, and then I didn't want the life of a minister. I immediately said no and thanked him“.

Then, the horse racing enthusiast continued: “When I came out of the cafe and walked home, I was laughing to myself! Life is still incredible! My ego was flattered for five minutes, well… Maybe a little more. But I don't want to brag

Finally, it is therefore Roselyne Bachelot who took the position and who will undoubtedly appreciate knowing that that day she was the head of state's second knife.
