“ManiFeste”, “Miremont Guitares Festival”, “We Love Green”…

This week, for the last days of May and the first days of June, we offer you the programs of four festivals, two of which have a first edition, and two tours. On the menu, very prominent personalities like Angelo Debarre or, for some, to be discovered, like Asif Ali Khan.

IRCAM takes the stage with the ManiFeste festival in Paris

” Action ! ». This is the slogan chosen by Frank Madlener to summarize the 2024 edition of the ManiFeste festival organized by the Institute for Acoustic-Music Research and Coordination (Ircam), of which he is the director. If the cinematographic universe, to which this apostrophe refers, appears on the festival poster from its opening evening (May 30), at the Center Pompidou, with a tantalizing film concert, Chaplin Factorysigned by the Argentinian Martin Matalon, the concept of editing, even more than that of filming, constitutes the common thread of a program that Frank Madlener seems to have imagined like a director.

This status also applies to Simon Steen-Andersen, whose scores are not limited to the articulation of sounds but also govern movements and images. Thus, the Danish composer will present, at the Théâtre du Châtelet (May 31), an enigmatic Triomainly inspired by Maurice Ravel and his Waltz. Without resorting to the big screen while playing on the principle of immersion in a dark room, Music Fictions will experience new developments (with several sessions per day, from June 5 to 7) in the confrontation of a literary text and a musical broadcast. In view of these promises of interaction, however, we should not consider the concert strictly speaking like the poor relation of a richly multidisciplinary programming and neglecting the proposals of ensembles (Ensemble intercontemporain, Multilaterale, Percussions de Strasbourg) or orchestras (Orchestre de Paris, Philharmonique de Radio France). ManiFeste Festival, at Ircam, 1 place Igor-Stravinsky, Paris 4e, and in other Parisian venues. From May 30 to June 22. From €8 to €30.

Like the Paris Montrouge Guitar Festival, whose 12the edition took place from February 29 to March 3, the Miremont Guitares Festival combines concerts and exhibitors’ lounges with artisan luthiers. 1er June, a Guitar Night, will be dedicated to the guitarist Sylvain Luc, who died on March 13, who had agreed to be the sponsor of this first edition of the event organized, from May 31 to June 2, at Parc Miremont in Plan- de-Cuques (Bouches-du-Rhône), near Marseille.
