The media storm did not get the better of Edouard Baer’s performance in Vevey, scheduled for Tuesday May 28. “After careful analysis of the situation, the decision to continue the show was taken,” announced Théâtre Le Reflet, “considering the fact that no complaint was filed by the victims.” The steering committee of the Fondation des arts et spectacles de Vevey was involved in the reflection.

Since Thursday, the 57-year-old French actor has been publicly accused of sexual assault and harassment. Six women spoke out in a Mediapart and Cheek investigation to denounce facts that allegedly occurred between 2013 and 2021.

Ticket refunded on request

The actor and director must give a performance of his show “Le journal d’Edouard Baer” in Vevey, surrounded by “a lot of people on stage” as the poster mentions. Tickets, almost all sold out, cost 18 to 68 francs depending on placement.

“Spectators who do not wish to attend the show, and who request it, will have their ticket refunded,” specifies Brigitte Romanens-Deville, the director of Reflet. The institution also takes precautions to avoid any risk of inappropriate behavior.

Informed staff

“The Mediapart article will be communicated to the entire theater staff team for information, as well as to the people who will be auditioned on Monday evening to participate in the show. The management guarantees the protection of the physical and mental integrity of all volunteers and professionals involved in the production of the show at Reflet,” adds the press release.

The concept of “Journal d’Edouard Baer” is that at each stage of his tour, the actor completes the complement of his troupe with people from the region who have applied several months in advance. They have three minutes to show off their talent or share a message.

This revue “half cabaret, half theater and half unusual encounters” has already been shown in Beausobre Theater of Morges on May 4, then on May 6 Crochetan Theater from Monthey and the 8th to The balance from Fribourg.

The actor is currently playing “My application” at the Antoine Theater in Paris. “I do not recognize myself in the words or gestures attributed to me, but I can only express my regrets,” he declared, before apologizing.
