“Masked singers”: a comedian who appeared in Le Soleil wanted to surprise her 6-year-old daughter

A popular comedian was unmasked Sunday evening on “Masked Singers.”

The Sun, who dazzled us with the warmth of his voice and the grace of his movements, took part in the competition to surprise his 6-year-old daughter.

After singing “Bang Bang” and “Non, je ne regrette rien” earlier in the fourth season, the shining star revisited “Padam, padam” on Sunday, another classic by Edith Piaf.

Did you guess that Cathy Gauthier was hiding in the Sun? Among the investigators, only the first impression of Sam Breton was the right one.

Surprise Alice!

Cathy Gauthier, who has been on the Énergie morning show “Le Boost!” for three seasons, took part in the most watched show in Canada to please her daughter Alice, whose reaction she filmed at the very end of the sixth episode, when she was revealed to be the one behind the sparkly costume. This is because the little girl, who religiously watches “Masked Singers” alongside her mother, had asked her why she was not participating in the Sunday competition.

“I accepted this contract only to surprise my daughter. She has been telling me for a long time that she wants to go to “Masked Singers” and that she already knows which mascot she would like, but I explained to her that you have to be known to participate in the show. So she asked me, “Why don’t you go first?” I told him it’s because I sing badly, but I applied to the team to take part in the season. My baby’s reaction will make good social media content!”

A champion like Céline!

Cathy Gauthier doesn’t sing bad at all, as she showed three times on the set heated by Sébastien Benoit.

Despite the heaviness of her shiny suit, which prevented her from being able to move as much as she would have liked, what the 47-year-old comedian and presenter remembers most is her time at the recording studio where she did it like a champ. Just one take and that was it, much to his astonishment.

“It was more fun than I thought, I didn’t expect to have so much fun in the studio. They would set aside four-hour blocks to record the songs and I tell you, in 10 minutes, no joke, it was done. A take like Céline! Gauthier, with whom we recorded our songs, told me that I sang well. I don’t have so much confidence in myself that I thought he was fooling me,” added Cathy Gauthier, who in addition to a few appearances on “Live from the Universe,” sings more at home, far from the cameras.

“My ex told me: ‘You have a more beautiful voice when you sing than when you speak, and you are softer, you look finer when you sing.’ So I started singing every time something pissed me off, for example to ask him to take out the trash!” (laughs)

Cathy Gauthier even says that her experience at “Masked Singers” “gave her a taste for making other singing appearances on our screens.

“Investigators believed that the Sun was hiding someone who had done musicals, but no, that’s not the case. But if one of the “Sisters-in-law” ever falls ill, I am ready for anything!” joked Cathy Gauthier.
