Actress and model Véronique de Bibikoff has died at the age of 88

The actress and model Véronique de Bibikoff, crowned Miss in 1955, died at the age of 88, as announced by her son, the fashion designer Olivier Lapidus, in Le Figaro this Thursday.

Born under the name Jeanne Szubert, she was elected Miss in 1954, before becoming Miss France the following year. She then had a short film career in the 1950s, while marrying Ted Lapidus. Véronique de Bibikoff notably played in 1956 in La Vie est belle alongside comedians Roger Pierre and Jean-Marc Thibault, as well as in Les Motards (1959), another comedy.

She also appeared in the 1957 crime film Mademoiselle et son gang with Line Renaud and played a major role in Ces dames prefer mambo (1958) alongside Lino Ventura and Eddie Constantine. According to Le Figaro, the funeral will take place this Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Saint-Alexandre-Nevsky Cathedral, in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, followed by a private burial.
