Sum 41 singer Deryck Whibley has responded strongly to comments from his former manager, Greig Nori, who denied accusations of sexual and verbal abuse made against him in the singer’s new book Walking Disaster. Whibley, who reveals disturbing details about their past relationship in his autobiography, publicly challenged Nori to confront his statements in court.
A complex relationship revealed in Walking Disaster
In Walking DisasterDeryck Whibley claims his relationship with Nori began with consensual sex before becoming verbally abusive when the sexual aspect ended. Nori, meanwhile, quickly denied the accusations in a statement to the Toronto Star, saying: “The accusation that I initiated the relationship is false. Whibley initiated this relationship, and did so aggressively.”
Nori also said the relationship ended consensually, denying that he pressured Whibley to continue the relationship by accusing him of homophobia.

Whibley strikes back
Faced with these denials, Whibley published a video on Sum 41’s social networks, in which he reflects on this trying week. “I take no pleasure in coming out with this truth, but it was something I could no longer keep inside myself,” he declared.
He then sent a message directly to Greig Nori: “If you think I’m a liar, there’s only one way to settle that…under oath, in front of a judge, in front of a jury, whenever you want. I’m ready when you are.” Whibley concluded by thanking his fans, family and band for their support during this difficult time.
The future of Sum 41
As tensions intensify around this affair, Sum 41 continues its farewell tour. The band will resume concerts on October 21 in the Netherlands as part of the European and British tour to promote their album Heaven X Hell. Furthermore, Whibley’s new book, Walking Disasteris already available at Simon & Schuster as well as in bookstores.
