25 rue Adrien-Dubouché. Julien Jourdanne, founder of the Uniqua sneaker brand, left rue Monte-à-Regret to settle at 25 rue Adrien-Dubouché. In this 350 m² commercial space, he sells, manufactures and stores his leather stocks. The customer can thus witness the making of the ordered shoes.
“It’s fun!” Before leaving for Lot-et-Garonne, my ancestors owned a shoe repair shop a stone’s throw from here. Their shop was located on rue des Écoles,” explains Julien, who comes from a line of shoemakers going back seven generations.
A former employee of Weston, he struck out on his own in 2021, manufacturing his first pairs of sneakers in his garage in Couzeix. He created two ranges, collections and customizations. And they are repairable. These have made his reputation: in three years, he has released nearly 7,000 pairs on the market.
In this larger space, also more visible to the general public, four employees support him in his mission. In addition to shoes and rugby balls, Julien is a partner of the USAL and produces accessories, notably belts designed by the designer, painter and visual artist Patrick Lasthère.
Uniqua means “Unique in…” For now, it’s Limoges. But he is now targeting Bordeaux and Toulouse. To be continued, therefore.
The Garden Event
297 avenue Baudin. The Garden Event replaces La Villa. Ibtissam Achbakou, who runs this establishment, has redone everything. Initially, it favors seminars, weddings, baptisms and other professional or family events. Everything is done to meet customer expectations. Petanque court, games room for children and teenagers, nothing is missing.
In the afternoon, the establishment takes the form of a tea room. Ibtissam serves its house specialties. And on Sunday, between 10:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Le Garden Event opens to brunch lovers. 63 rue Adrien-Dubouché. The store has just opened its doors. Mamady, the owner, specializes in sportswear style items. All brands, even the most prestigious, are represented. For sneaker lovers, Nike, Addidas, Lacoste are present on the stalls. On the fashion side, nothing is missing. Sweatshirts, football or basketball jerseys, tracksuits and accessories sit side by side on the shelves. The store is open Tuesday to Saturday.
Paul’s Bestiary
2 rue Adrien-Dubouché. Amélie Lathière, who has just settled, is a passionate bookseller who has read all the authors she supports and who knows well the publishing houses she promotes. Inaugurated on Saturday, his bookstore, Le Bestiaire de Paul, in homage to his grandfather, specializes in everything related to the imagination, fantasy or science fiction. It is aimed at children, teenagers and adults.
“The share reserved for this type of literature in traditional bookstores is not satisfactory. By talking with friends, I was reinforced in my words and they were the ones who pushed me to settle down,” explains Amélie. In addition to the classic editions, purists and amateurs can discover very pretty, magnificently illustrated and bound works. There is even a section of books in English.
The Reunion Island Corner
Halles Carnot. The stall has changed ownership. Mickaël Payet, the new owner, arrived in Limoges in 2008. “I initially wanted to open a food truck. When I learned that Coin Réunionnais was up for sale, I contacted Karim to take over this brand. I offer essentially Creole cuisine. Samoussas, vegetable fritters, traditional Reunion gratin sandwiches and rougail-sausage can be enjoyed on site or to take away,” explains Mickaël Payet.
