In the collective imagination, rappers only come from the region, or large cities. A preconceived idea suggesting that rural areas would be devoid of kickers talented… All this will remain conditional when discussing the lower-Alpine collective La Marmite.

Since 2020, this group of friends aged 20 to 25 has been traveling the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region to ignite the stages and share their hip-hop culture. In the cauldron, we find seven rappers: Arizki, Costa, Duarte, J2, LI, MC Gareth and Sysy.

All perfectly decorated and piloted by a druid: Mano, in charge of composition through to live performance, including recording and mixing. Without forgetting Whittom, the group’s photographer and videographer. Today, this independent collective has two mixtapes to its credit (La Marmite Vol.1 et Vol.2) and two EPs (Independents et Life after) as well as a series of singles… But before looking at their news, a little flashback.

The Class’Eurock Springboard, the trigger

As is often the case, for rap fans, it all starts in high school, and more precisely at the Alexandra-David-Néel mixed establishment, in Digne-les-Bains. “A large part of the team was at boarding school and that’s where we started to discover rap, freestyles and making sounds in the studio in 2018, 2019“, explains Mano.
