the essential
The 30th edition of the Cahors amateur theater festival came to an end on Saturday evening. A look back at these four days of culture, which made the prefectural city vibrate.

Ten plays in four days, theater lovers dreamed of it, the Troupe en Boule organized it on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the festival.
This was opened by students from the Grand Cahors Drama Conservatory who presented “Twelfth Night”, a work still in progress to express themselves in the language of Shakespeare, the author of the play.

Then the different companies, sometimes coming from far away, followed one another. In the morning, the theater foyer opened its doors to the public who were able to attend and participate in the discussions between the members of the jury and the actors who had performed the day before. The opportunity to take an interest in all aspects of the performance, the text, the staging choices, the lighting, the decor, the music…

On Saturday, finally, the festival ended, not in the head but “Feet in the stars” with the Keykeepers, namely the Cadurcian company Plume Pourpre who ignited the public who came in large numbers. At 11 p.m., in front of a still full room, Caroline Cariat, president of the Troupe en Boule, wanted to thank the supporters and sponsors, and particularly the many volunteers. She also announced a broken attendance record with 1,901 spectators.

The rewarded pieces

The emissaries of Festhéa, the national amateur theater festival of Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire, have selected the Cie Figeacoise Entre Cour et Jardin for their play “ ça passe ” which will represent the Midi-Pyrénées region next October.

The “Pierre Larroque” public prize was awarded to Cie Accordage for “La nostalgia des cockroaches”, a lively dialogue between two septuagenarians exhibited in a museum. The young jury distinguished “Ouasmok” performed by the Cie Girondine Chronique. Finally, the eight members of the professional jury expressed their personal favorites, the organizers having decided not to award any prizes in order to end the spirit of competition.

Note that throughout the festival, an artist from Lot, Florie Martinez, painted the shows live. His watercolors were displayed in the theater lobby. A great way to pay tribute to this amateur theater festival that has been making Cahors vibrate for thirty years.
