Led by Milly Alcock (“House of the Dragon”), the DC film “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” will be released in American theaters on June 26, 2026.

On July 9, 2025, Superman will make his comeback in theaters. In the guise of David Corenswet, who recently appeared in costume, and in front of the camera of James Gunn, responsible for kicking off the new DC Universe of which he is one of the architects with producer Peter Safran.

A year later, it is the cousin of the native of Krypton who will take flight. Entitled Woman of Tomorrow, in reference to the comic book by Tom King and Bilquis Evely from which the scenario will be inspired, the new film dedicated to Supergirl will be released in American theaters on June 26, 2026. And probably two days before in France.

Under the direction of Craig Gillespie (to whom we owe Me, Tonya or Cruella), Milly Alcock will be the new Kara Zor-El. The revelation of House of the Dragon follows Helen Slater and Sasha Calle, who preceded her in the cinema, and Melissa Benoist, who played the superheroine during the six seasons of the series broadcast between 2015 and 2021.

And we will have to wait a little shorter than expected to see her make her film debut, since her character must make an appearance in the next Superman. In blue and red outfit or in civilian clothes, we don’t know yet, and there is no doubt that DC Studios will keep the mystery as long as possible.

“Not the Supergirl you’re used to”

But his participation could go beyond the free cameo, and build a bridge to his solo film. Which, if it remains faithful to the material it adapts, will show Supergirl in the midst of an existential crisis, leaving Earth where she lives only in the shadow of her cousin and his exploits, and involved in a story of extra- earthly.

If this is confirmed, this version of the superheroine created in 1959 would be a little darker and tormented than the previous ones. And the director promised that he “Won’t be the Supergirl you’re used to”. Now we just have to wait before discovering it.
