Visiting St Mary’s Community Hospital in Hugh Town on Saint Mary’s Island, Tracy Smith, the facility’s administrator, asked the Prince of Wales about his wife Kate’s health, suggesting to return to the Isles of Scilly this time in the company of the royal family.
“He said, ‘She’s fine, thank you,'” Tracy Smith told the BBC.
Princess Kate, wife of the heir to the throne, revealed on March 22 in a video that she had cancer, without specifying its nature, and had started preventive chemotherapy.
In response to Tracy Smith, Prince William also confided that his children George, Charlotte and Louis were “very jealous” of his trip, raising the possibility of bringing them to Cournailles during the year.
At the end of his visit, Prince William was given a small card for his wife and his father, King Charles III, who also suffers from cancer. “It’s a card from my granddaughter who wanted to wish her father and his wife well,” one resident told the BBC.
The royal itinerary continued at Saint Mary’s Port, then to a café in town. Prince William also took the opportunity to order five Cornish pasties, a specialty of the region, before emphasizing: “they are not all for me… But it smells delicious here”.
