A quick look back: Provence of May 11, 2010 detailed the improbable rise of a local “little artist”: “Carlo Visconti is this singer from Sausse, Italian of origin, who took on a recognized dimension by specializing in ‘zouk spaghetti’. His first hit Saro con te sairanked best-selling zouk at Phoenix records, will be followed by Pond, pond (sea in Italian), committed in 2007, just like Yemma (mom, in Kabyle).” A title well supported by the powerful relay of the regional network of local radios in 2009.

It was in his fifties that his career experienced this unexpected spiral, pushed by the Caribbean trade winds of success, which attracted him to the very exposed Guadeloupe Carnival of Basse-Terre. “It was three crazy daysremembers the Saussetois artist. A crazy musical experience. I left there again 50 days later!“With a whirlwind of invitations, which then allowed him to shoot West Indian clips of his hits of the moment,”and even to kiss the hand of the beautiful Joëlle Ursull“, then in full glory.

Summers are then spent between the work of the Parisian Majors, a few prestige televisions (Drucker, Danielle Gilbert…), the stages of the great south, without forgetting its local anchor points, such as the port of Sausset or the Caribbean festival of Martigues. A whirlwind therefore, and a permanent juggling towards the Antilles, where the producer Jean-Claude Laumon and the entire public are asking for more of the zouké breath of his new Italian-Caribbean anthem: Pond, pondfollowed by another album, Esoticoquickly ranked among the best-selling Word music at FNAC.

Sudden stop, and slow recovery

But that was before. After these first euphoric dizziness of notoriety, the unexpected breakdown. Health first, wavering, then a few long months and years later, an uncertain and hesitant reconquest, most often fueled by withdrawal into oneself.

This time I’m ready“, proclaims Carlo Visconti today to sweep away this long period of physical and moral discomfort. Carlo is resolutely keen to relaunch with what made his notoriety, and which remains his DNA and his passion: “his” Italian zouk And at the end of this slow race, a revival materialized by Tropical Ritmomaxi single already put online in Latin countries, the Antilles, Cape Verde, and now Europe.

Heard from the outside, the artist’s voice has not moved a half-sharp, with the same hoarse “typical Italian” timbre, and a groove carried by zouk but not only that. The artist likes to comment on what he considers to be a radical evolution. “First I couldn’t not include a rapper, because they became the masters of the time… And I even added the violin for the first time, because it was necessary.

With this in mind, his first performance (after a training scene in Marseille at the end of April) will be at Malicia, in Gignac, for the official presentation of his clip. But not before a few tours wiser than the hundred annual concerts or show cases played in his wildest years, just “because zouk makes me revive“. It is said.

New spirit, new titles, new scenes

Before this official launch in Gignac-la-Nerthe, Carlo Visconti attended the Ti punch tropical concert in Marseille at the end of April 2024. His summer schedule is filling up little by little, with undoubtedly an Ivorian summit in Abidjan on August 17. In the meantime his Maxi 5 titles will be released Tropical Ritmowith in addition to its unpublished eponymous title, a best of of its flagship titles (including the famous Saro con te), reorchestrated for “better fit with the times“: a new mix made by Marseille DJ Man, “a more than talented guy“, cohabits with a “melodization” enhanced by the violin. Other new releases, for the first time two titles in French, My feelings And Beauty of the night (prostitute, in popular Marseille jargon).

At the Malicia Club, Gignac-la-Nerthe, Saturday May 11 at 8 p.m., Carlo Visconti dinner show with DJ Man, Italian zouk from Sicily to the West Indies. Contact and Reservations: 06 17 62 44 11.
