Princess Charlene launched breast cancer awareness month by lighting up Monaco Casino Square in pink. The wife of the Monegasque head of state is very involved in this cause and the lighting of the Principality’s emblematic buildings kicks off a month full of awareness-raising commitments.

Princess Charlene launches the month of Pink October
This Friday, October 4, 2024, Princess Charlene waited for darkness to settle on the Rock to go to the Place du Casino. Magnificent Belle Époque style buildings, such as the Hôtel de Paris, the Café de Paris and of course, the Monte-Carlo Casino, line this iconic square in Monaco.

In front of the Casino, Princess Charlène met Natasha Frost-Savio, president and founder of Pink Ribbon Monaco and Stéphane Valeri, deputy president of the Bains de Mer company. Princess Charlène lit the buildings of the place in pink, in pressing a button. In keeping with the theme, Princess Charlene wore a pale pink houndstooth ensemble by Emilia Wickstead. She also wore the traditional little pink ribbon pinned to her chest.

The buildings of the Principality lit up in pink during the month of October
Princess Charlène is the honorary president of Pink Ribbon. Each year, the association participates in the global push for Pink October. Throughout the world, associations raising awareness of screening and the fight against breast cancer are mobilizing. This year, Pink Ribbon Monaco celebrates the 14th anniversary of tireless efforts to raise awareness of early detection.

Since 2011, several emblematic monuments of the Principality have been lit up in pink to show their support for the cause and raise awareness of screening. This year again, the princely palace, the Oceanography Museum and the Casino are participating in the initiative and will be lit in pink throughout the month of October.
