King Charles III diagnosed with cancer

Jacques Letocart received it a few days ago: a letter from Charles III, the King of England in person. “With his seal and signature, specifies this resident of the Saint-François nursing home in Arras (Pas-de-Calais), showing the mail to our team in the TF1 1 p.m. report above. It was “really a surprise, I liked it, I appreciated it“, he confides, still moved by these few words of thanks, a response to his own letter.

From his nursing home room, the 93-year-old retiree had in fact taken up his pen to support the monarch after the announcement of his illness. “I didn’t know English, so I had it translated with a phone, word for word it was translated to me, he says. Although they do not speak the same language, the two men share the same passion for watercolors, the retiree saying he does “two per day“.”I saw that he was a passionate watercoloristexplains Jacques Letocart. Whenever he has a moment, he jumps on his paintings and paints a lot of landscapes“.

Since the announcement of his illness, the king has received more than 7,000 letters of support. By responding to anonymous people from all over the world, he perpetuates the tradition of his mother, Elizabeth II. During her reign, the queen, for example, responded to a class in Morbihan. “We were all happy, we shouted with joy“, said one of the schoolgirls in a TF1 news report broadcast in September 2022, a few days after the disappearance of the sovereign. “It’s a collector’s item, we will of course keep it within the school“, assured her teacher. A privileged link with the royal family, even on the other side of the Channel.
