“Here it all begins” Summary in advance of the episode of May 10, 2024

The new pastry teacher leaves no one ice cream

At the Institute, Carla joins Rose in the park. The young woman confides to her mother that she has discovered a nickname for the new pastry teacher: Iceberg. Rose recognizes that Alice is a bit special. Regardless, she is convinced that she is an excellent teacher. Carla fears she’s under Cardone’s influence, but Rose thinks Alice doesn’t like him that much. Carla then goes to her baking class. Alice asks the students to make a dessert. She points out to Carla that her bain-marie was too hot, which explains why her preparation is not homogeneous. She asks him to redo his sponge cake. Carla asks Alice if she has anything particular against her for quibbling over details. Alice assures her student that it’s not personal and explains that a degree can make the difference between a rough and successful dessert. After class, Carla goes to the studio and prepares Alice’s dessert again, this time scrupulously following her instructions. She’s convinced that one or two degrees won’t make any difference, but that’s not the case. By following the instructions, the dessert turns out to be a real delight.

For their part, Rose and Clotilde take advantage of a meeting with Chef Cardone to talk to her about Alice and her way of teaching which destabilizes the students. Cardone counters that she doesn’t care what the students think. She believes that her job is to bring out true leaders from this institute and not have to listen to the whining of spoiled children who don’t realize how lucky they are. Furthermore, Cardone is convinced that this place will become a real cooking school thanks to Alice and her lack of affect.

Hortense tries to reframe Cardone

For her cooking class, Hortense takes a group of students to the vegetable garden. Its goal is to introduce them to spring products in their natural environment. Then, the students will have to prepare appetizers with these products. At the same time, Annabelle Cardone appears in the vegetable garden. She decided to attend Hortense’s class. During the tasting, Cardone does not spare his critics. Leonardo prepared a spring salad in mini parmesan shells. Cardone emphasizes that she doesn’t like anything on her plate. She finds that the seasoning is uninteresting and that the parmesan shell is acidic. As she walks away, Leonard lets out an “Okay witch”. The problem is, Cardone heard it. Leonard apologizes, but without success. Cardone demands that he prepare 300 appetizers for tomorrow. Hortense questions the new Director’s ways of doing things. When she lets him know her way of thinking, Cardone makes her understand half-heartedly that it would not be in her interest if they get off to a bad start.

Welcome to the Coupe de France de Cuisine…

Welcome to Brittany and more precisely to Château le Nessay, located in Saint-Briac. This year, the Coupe de France de Cuisine takes place in this magnificent baroque castle dating from 1882, where the chefs will stay. Kelly’s brigade arrives on site. And surprise, Lionel accompanies them. Kelly hadn’t been back there in three and a half years. She is somewhat upset. At the time, she didn’t know how to read or write and she did housework with her mother. The young woman confides to Salomé that she is very lucky to come back with her own brigade for the Coupe de France de Cuisine. Salomé emphasizes that it is thanks to her talent and determination that she got there and not to luck. Then, she declares to her niece: “You owe your place to yourself. So be proud and enjoy.”

But a few minutes later, Kelly finds herself confronted with her past. She sees the chef Rosset and is afraid to speak to her. Chef Rosset sent her and her mother away overnight 3 and a half years ago. Against all expectations, the latter comes to meet him and says she is delighted with his presence. She can’t wait to see her work in the kitchen. Then, chef Rosset wants to introduce Kelly to a friend who will represent the northern zone for the French Cup. And this friend is none other than chef Lenglart. Faced with Carole, Kelly is paralyzed. Carole explains to Chef Rosset that Kelly was her assistant and that they had some disagreements at the time.

All the brigades have arrived at the castle, including Jasmine’s. They meet on the terrace. Benoît Delobel makes his entrance. He says he is honored to chair the 2024 Coupe de France de Cuisine. Then, he thanks chef Rosset for welcoming them and for agreeing to join him on the jury. The latter then explains to the candidates how the competition will take place. 6 teams will compete, but at the end of the first two events, the two teams with the fewest points will be eliminated. Then, the remaining 4 teams will compete for the semi-finals and the bottom two for the grand final. The chef who wins this final will be fully sponsored for the opening of his restaurant. Chef Rosset adds that the Coupe de France will begin the next day with a fishing return event. And to spice things up, the teams will have to use a required ingredient in their recipes.

A few moments later, chef Lenglart goes to meet Kelly. She claims to have moved on, and adds that she does not hold grudges. But then, Carole tries to destabilize Kelly. She alludes, among other things, to her dismissal from the Institute and the fact that if she fails, she will have nothing left. Teyssier sees them together and rushes to Kelly’s aid. He encourages the young woman not to let herself be destabilized. However, Kelly cannot help but tell herself that chef Lenglart is right and subsequently confides in Lionel. Her boyfriend assures Kelly that she has the level to participate in the Coupe de France when suddenly someone interrupts them. It’s Laetitia. She couldn’t bring herself to stay away from the two people who meant the most to her, so she came. Kelly is happy to see her mother.

At the start of the evening, Maya and Salomé put on their best outfits to go to a cocktail party taking place in a casino. But Kelly prefers to stay at the castle to work a little and be in great shape for the next day. Solidarity, Salomé and Maya decide to stay with them. Teyssier says he is proud of them.

Zacharie and Laetitia join Jim and Jasmine at the bar. Laetitia sees chef Rosset. She makes Zacharie believe that she forgot something in the room and tells him that she will join them at the casino.

After their departure, Laetitia calls out to chef Rosset in the hallway. The latter is astonishing. Laetitia explains to him that she came to support her daughter. Chef Rosset points out to Laetitia that she could have had the decency to go and sleep elsewhere. Although she understands the boss’s anger towards her, Laetitia hopes that she will not penalize Kelly. Then, she admits to Chief Rosset that she lied to her daughter about her dismissal three and a half years ago and asks her not to say anything to Kelly. Chef Rosset provokes Laetitia and insults her. She loses her composure and violently pins her against the wall. Right at the same time, Kelly surprises her mother and is stunned. Chef Rosset disappears. Angry with her mother, Kelly asks her if she understands the seriousness of her act then she swears to him that she will not forgive him if she loses because of her.
