Brussels Pride will put the LGBTQIA+ community in the spotlight on May 18 by adorning the streets of the capital with rainbow colors. The event will take place this year under the theme “Safe Everyday Everywhere” and will take the form of a call to action against all forms of discrimination, violence or hate crimes so that everyone can feel free and live peacefully, announced organizers on Monday.

“This year, Brussels Pride wants more than ever to underline the importance of this event for an inclusive, safer and fairer society for everyone on a daily basis,” they add.

The Pride March, the highlight of Brussels Pride, will start from Mont des Arts at 2:30 p.m., and will invade the streets of the city center. “Its objective is to celebrate diversity, tolerance and acceptance of all, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity,” the organizers further explain.

LGBTQIA+ and allied artists will shine on the stage installed at the Mont des Arts, while the Rainbow Village and its establishments, located in the Saint-Jacques district, will vibrate the streets of the city center.

To allow everyone to fully enjoy the event in complete safety, Brussels Pride will deploy a Safer Pride system, to provide listening and psycho-social or medical support if necessary.

The Pride Village will welcome associations, who will inform the public about their fight and current issues for the rights of the community.

The Pride March will be preceded by numerous activities, screenings and performances focused on inclusion and diversity, including an intersectional and activist event on May 8 at the Maison des Cultures in Molenbeek and around the Suzan Daniel bridge. or the Mini-Pride on May 16.
