Rabastens. The designer Giemsi exhibits until the end of May

A Rabastino resident for several months, the designer Giemsi is exhibiting at the sports café until the end of May. Self-taught fifty-year-old with an atypical career, Jean-Marc, that’s his first name, is recognized in the drawing world. Particularly in editorial cartoons and press cartoons. He is also a comic book author. His speciality ? Humor. He treats all subjects, particularly current events, with wit and derision. A good stroke of the pencil. Sometimes corrosive. A bit spicy. “I’m a satirist,” Giemsi concedes. He has plenty to do, human stupidity is so vast… His favorite characters are animals. Many of his drawings have been published in Spirou. He has collaborated with a number of newspapers: Mon daily, l’- and adult current affairs newspapers, including satirical magazines. He received a 1st prize at the Castelnaudary caricature and press drawing festival a few years ago. Before becoming the designer he is today, Jean-Marc first studied science. He obtained a doctorate in chemistry in 2002. This led him to collaborate with the Scientific Council of National Education and more recently with the CNRS. “I like to popularize science” confides the designer. He also admits that he likes humorous drawing. We suspected it! And one does not prevent the other. The designer knows how to adapt to the different audiences to whom the publication is aimed. He has been, in turn, a journalist, a teacher and many other jobs. He regularly speaks to schools, particularly during press week.
