Scottish band The Silencers made their comeback last year with the album Silent Highway, their tenth album. For the occasion, its leader, Jimme O’Neill, surrounded himself in particular with his children to present, after nineteen years (!) of waiting, new titles from the Silencers.
The group will embark on a French tour in November 2024 including concerts at the Trianon in Paris on the 12th, at the Zéphyr in Hem on the 13th, at l’Étage in Rennes on the 14th and at the Vauban in Brest on the 16th (full) . Other dates are then planned in February 2025, notably in Nantes (the 4th), Ploemeur (the 5th) and Crozon (the 7th)
But before that, Jimme O’Neill is the guest ofWest France on Thursday October 17. He will play several Silencers titles solo and interact with the public at Espace Ouest-France, 38, rue du Pré-Botté, in Rennes. Do you want to be there? Nothing could be simpler: just register below. It’s free.
A flamboyant and melancholy rock
The Silencers were born in the mid-1980s in Glasgow. The Scottish group scored a hit across Europe right from the start, with the title Painted Moonprelude to their first album A Letter From St Paulwith rock that is both flamboyant and melancholic.
Quickly, their music opened up to Celtic influences that Jimmie O’Neil never stopped exploring, notably in the 2010s within The Celtic Social Club. With The Silencers, he released ten albums including Dance To The Holy Mantheir biggest success in 1991, with the hit Bulletproof Heart.
Jimme O’Neill knows Brittany well, he has lived there for around twenty years. Having lived in Rennes for a long time, he now lives in Ploërmel. It is therefore as a neighbor that he is expected at the Espace Ouest-France, on October 17, to present to us, among other things, tracks from the Silencers’ latest album, Silent Highway.
